Idaho Whitewater: Lower Salmon River
What better place to let your spirit run free than in the unencumbered natural flow of Idaho’s Salmon River? Much of the river deeply dices the landscape into spectacular displays of geologic wonder as expressed by the calligraphy of nature’s language written on walls of a canyon deeper than the Grand Canyon.
We run several sections of the lower 100 miles of river, varying from 1/2- to 6-day adventures. This allows several options, from mild to wild rapids.
Riggins: The sections above and below Riggins offer the most rapids mile-for-mile. The wildly popular half- and full-day trips make this an affordable way to get some exciting whitewater for families, groups or drop-in travelers.
Lower Gorge Below White Bird: Three- to six-day whitewater journeys are food for the soul as you travel through majestic canyons and camp on legendary big white sandy beaches as the Salmon River makes its way to the confluence with the Snake River at the bottom of Hells Canyon. The rich geographic landscapes, swimming beaches, delicious meals, and mosquito-free camps are just a few of the highlights of this captivating trip.

Owyhee River – SE Oregon
Unfathomable Isolation in the High Desert
So remote, Google Earth almost can’t find it. Now that’s unfathomable isolation. With labyrinthian silence and a vastness stretched to infinity, your spirit can soar like an eagle.
The Owyhee River drains a high desert plateau of the Steens Mountains and Juniper Mahogany Mountain complex, carving out a staggering vertical chasm-land of enchantment that will enrich your soul. It is like a little sister to Arizona ‘s Grand Canyon of the Colorado River. In some places the colorful canyon walls are so steep you have to crank your neck straight up to see the sky.
One of the things I like most about this river, aside from hot springs, ancient rock art, colorful wildflowers, wild horses, fun whitewater, and awesome beauty; is the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. Remoteness is more than just a word. It is where one can go to feel something you can’t feel anywhere else.
Upper Owyhee Three Forks to Rome: Widowmaker is a famous rapid in this intense Class V section and is for serious thrill seekers only. Four-day trip.
Lower Owyhee Below Rome: Whistling Bird rapid and several others will still get your attention, but this stretch is more moderate and family friendly than the upper section. Between four and six days.
“We all had a great time down the Lower Owyhee with you. Of course, I knew we would, but I was a little nervous about bringing my parents along, especially since my brother the doctor, said that my dad should be especially careful about badly bruising or cutting himself due to taking blood thinners. Anyway, you took extra good care of them both and they had a super time.”

Grande Ronde River – NE Oregon
Grande Ronde “Forested Mountain Country”
“Welleweah” or “River that flows into the far beyond” is how Chief Joseph’s band of Nez Perce referred to this Northeastern Oregon gem of a river with sky-soaring peaks and silhouettes as jagged as a cross-cut saw. The canyon corridor is heavily forested with mixed conifers and has a lush green feel to it in the spring. By fall, a full spectrum of beauty comes out when the tamarack, willows, aspen, and dogbane turn every color of the rainbow. It is also home to a plethora of wildlife: Bald eagles, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, elk, deer, turkey, miscellaneous predators, songbirds, shorebirds, waterfowl, and birds of prey.
Great Family Friendly Rapids. With mostly Class II and III rapids, this is a place to maximize your leisure time.
A tremendous resident trout and anadromous steelhead fishery also make this river a true sportsman’s paradise. Some of the finest fly fishing to be found anywhere in North America can be experienced in this incredible watershed.
“The trip was educational, thanks to the patience you showed in responding to the continuous questions asked by staff and the children. It was a perfect first experience for the kids. It was exciting, but the kids felt safe. Thanks again for a fun-filled day.”

“Once again I want to thank you for providing what was for me an awesome 6 days in nature. I truly loved every aspect of the trip …the water, land, history, nature, remoteness. But most of all the people. You brought it all together in a most admirable way. I have a great deal of respect for your love of nature and share your belief that how we treat the environment reflects the future of our existence. It is in that context that the trip took on a certain spirituality for me.”
